Washington: Saying goodbye to Washington

We began our day at Pikes Place Market before it open and was able to go to the ORIGINAL Starbucks across from Pikes Place and ate our bagel breakfast and sipped our last Washington coffee, sat on the pier overlooking the bay, and wondered through Pikes Place Market again.

{Day five}

Washington: I Gotta Feeling, That Tonights Gonna Be a Good, Night

Back in Seattle again. We spent the day walking around Seattle, a fancy dressed up dinner and the Space Needle. 


We started with breakfast at Kaladi Brothers, Carm was SO excited for their coffee. She even whispered sweet nothings into it's ear when she thought we weren't looking. 

Several months before our trip I bought a Seattle tourist book and paged and paged through my copy for months. When we got there I really wanted to visit Elliot Bay Book Company. When we finally went to look for it we started in Pioneer Square... not there at all turns out they moved to Capital Hill. 15 blocks later we found our way to Elliot Bay Book Company. By the time we found out if was that far up the hill we were only 2 blocks away, otherwise I think we would have turned around. I tried desperately to find something to buy in Elliot Bay but alas I found nothing. Later on Curly Locks gave me a postcard from Elliot Bay saying "You can't leave Seattle without something from Elliot Bay." They were such troopers while we were hiking the hills of Seattle. 

Morale of the Story: Check the correct address before you go :)

Our last night in Seattle we decided to dress up and go to a nicer restaurant for dinner. We settled on Tulio, a Italian restaurant in a nearby hotel. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Carm & Curly Locks got the Roast Chicken & I got the Lobster Ravioli.

Washington: Hoh Rainforest at Olympic Nation Park

The Hoh rainforest was gorgeous with all of the moss on fallen trees and growing from overhead branches. Everything was so green in the rainforest... I know of course it was what did I expect? But since everything was so green it really did not come across so well in pictures. It is really truly hard to see the depth of the scenery since it is all green and hard to distinguish.

{Day four}

Washington: Rialto Beach at Olympic Nation Park


Rialto beach was GORGEOUS. It was my first time seeing the ocean other than from a tiny window from a plane. The first time breathing in ocean air and being doused in salty water, hearing the huge crashing of the ocean waves. Huge piles of drift wood and bare trees lay on the shore for miles to see and off the beach you could see the little tree studded islands. We were just there for maybe an hour or two but high tide was beginning to rush in.

We had our grocery store picnic on the beach. My favorite kinds of picnics are the grocery store kinds, where you go and pick up a bunch of odds and ends, some cheese & crackers, a couple pieces of fruit, maybe some beef jerky. Hmmm so good and rustic.

I wish we could have stayed longer but the water kept getting closer and the waves higher if I would have stayed on the fallen tree above I would have been under water soon.

Washington: On the Road Again, Just Can't Wait to get on the Road Again

Saturday we left our hotel bright and early and caught the ferry from Edmond to Kingston. I feel like we waited an eternity in the car just waiting to get on the ferry. We ate breakfast on the ship (not very good at all) enjoyed the Ocean air & Puget Sound. I wish the ferry would have been longer, only a half an hour ferry ride.

From Kingston we drove to Port Angeles and continued on to the Olympic National Park.

Along the way we stopped at THE CUTEST town in Washington. 

While Carm & Curly Locks stopped for coffee I grabbed the camera (imagine that) & walked around looking at the cute sites.
